  • 3 Ripe bananas Mashed about 1.5 cups
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter Melted or use neutral oil
  • 3/4 cup Brown sugar Light or dark
  • 2 Eggs Large
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract Pure
  • 1 tsp Baking soda Not baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 1/2 cups All-purpose flour Spoon and level
  • 1 cup Chocolate chips Plus extra for topping

  • 1 Mixing bowl Large, for combining batter
  • 1 Wooden spoon or spatula For folding ingredients

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9x5 loaf pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth.
  3. Stir in the melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  4. Sprinkle in baking soda and salt. Mix lightly.
  5. Gently fold in flour, then chocolate chips. Don’t overmix.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  7. Sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top if desired.
  8. Bake for 55–65 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a rack to cool completely.
